In this video, I will show you how to make dough for Mongolian dumplings.

This dough is simple to make and only requires a few ingredients. It is also very versatile and can be used to make other types of dumplings as well.

Step by Step Recipe Instruction Video:

 Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (240ml) water + more as needed
  • a pinch of salt

 Steps to make it:

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  2. Add the room-temperature water and start mixing it by hand.
  3. Gradually add more water little by little, mixing until a dough forms. It should be a consistency of play dough. Not too hard and not too soft. It should be stiffer than pizza dough and the same as pasta dough.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough with a dishrag and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  6. After the dough has rested, divide it into 4 equal pieces.
  7. Roll out each piece of dough into a long think rod shape, about 1.5" in diameter.
  8. Dust the rod with some flour and cut it into smaller pieces, about 1" thick.
  9. Keep the remaining 3 details of large doughs covered to prevent them from drying out and forming a crust over it.
  10. Now roll out the small 1" dough into circles. Roll it out from every edge by turning the dough so that it forms a uniform round shape.
  11. Fill each circle with your desired filling and fold it in half.
  12. Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal the filling.
  13. Repeat these steps with the remaining dough and filling.

Steam the dumplings for 20 minutes, or until cooked through. Serve hot and enjoy!
