In this video, I will show you how to make dough for Mongolian dumplings.
This dough is simple to make and only requires a few ingredients. It is also very versatile and can be used to make other types of dumplings as well.
Step by Step Recipe Instruction Video:
Ingredients:
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (240ml) water + more as needed
- a pinch of salt
Steps to make it:
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Add the room-temperature water and start mixing it by hand.
- Gradually add more water little by little, mixing until a dough forms. It should be a consistency of play dough. Not too hard and not too soft. It should be stiffer than pizza dough and the same as pasta dough.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a dishrag and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into 4 equal pieces.
- Roll out each piece of dough into a long think rod shape, about 1.5" in diameter.
- Dust the rod with some flour and cut it into smaller pieces, about 1" thick.
- Keep the remaining 3 details of large doughs covered to prevent them from drying out and forming a crust over it.
- Now roll out the small 1" dough into circles. Roll it out from every edge by turning the dough so that it forms a uniform round shape.
- Fill each circle with your desired filling and fold it in half.
- Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal the filling.
- Repeat these steps with the remaining dough and filling.
Steam the dumplings for 20 minutes, or until cooked through. Serve hot and enjoy!
