Asian Style Marinated Grilled Pork Shoulder
Asian-Style Marinated Grilled Pork Country Ribs (Easy and Flavorful)
This is one of my family's all-time favorite recipes. No matter how much I prepare — even when I make extra — there’s never a single piece of this marinated pork left! While you can use any cut of pork for this recipe, I personally prefer Pork Shoulder Country Style Ribs because their rich marbling adds extra flavor and tenderness.

Looking for an easy, flavor-packed grilled pork recipe? This Asian-style marinated grilled pork delivers tender, juicy meat with the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and zesty flavors. Using pork shoulder country-style ribs, a simple yet powerful marinade of soy sauce, ginger, garlic, lemon juice, and brown sugar infuses every bite with rich Asian-inspired notes.
Ideal for summer cookouts, weeknight dinners, or meal prep, this recipe requires minimal ingredients but maximum flavor!
Step by Step Recipe Instruction Video:
Ingredients:
- 5 Pork Shoulder Country Style Ribs
- 5 tsp crushed ginger
- 4 - 5 big cloves of crushed garlic
- 1/2 cup (120ml) of soy sauce
- 1 lemon juice
- 2 tbsp of brown sugar
Steps to make it:
🔥 Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade:
In a large bowl or resealable plastic bag, combine the soy sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, crushed ginger, and crushed garlic. Stir or shake well to fully dissolve the sugar. - Marinate the Pork:
Add the pork shoulder country-style ribs to the marinade, making sure each piece is thoroughly coated. Cover the bowl or seal the bag, and refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor. - Preheat the Grill:
About 30 minutes before grilling, remove the pork from the fridge to let it come closer to room temperature.
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F/200°C). - Grill the Pork:
Grill for 6–8 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) and develops a caramelized, slightly charred surface. Baste occasionally with the leftover marinade during the first half of grilling for extra flavor (optional). - Rest and Serve:
Transfer the pork to a plate or board, loosely tent with foil, and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving. This ensures the juices redistribute inside the meat for maximum tenderness.
📋 Notes & Tips
- Alternative Cooking:
- You can also broil these ribs in the oven if grilling isn't an option—use a high broil setting and watch carefully to avoid burning.
- I have also cooked the meat in an air fryer at 370°F (190°C) for 15 min on one side and another 15 min on the other side. Depending on how thick the pieces are, you might have to cook those pieces for an extra 5 minutes.
- Adjusting Sweetness: Prefer a slightly sweeter marinade? Add an extra tablespoon of brown sugar or a drizzle of honey.
- Spicy Kick: Want a bit of heat? Add a teaspoon of chili flakes or a dash of sriracha to the marinade.
